Chris Hardy WK4 - Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is the process of using social networking sites, blogs, wikis and message boards for marketing a product of some sort. Some popular sites include Twitter, Myspace, Facebook and Blogger. Common examples of social media marketing are in the music industry are:
-       Using Myspace to promote your band
-       Creating threads on message boards to promote an album release
-       Handing out event/gig invitations on Facebook
-       Using any of the above to advertise and/or sell merchandise
These are just a few examples.

Social media marketing is a useful tool for advertising your business, band or product online, it is seen as a quick and effective way to alert fans of latest releases or general information. Though it can be a helpful marketing tool, I have noticed that when using this method, you are not actually creating a true bond with the audience. Pushing your message and product across the web can come across as annoying. Nowadays social marketing methods are usually seen as spam.

Everyday people are setting up social media sites to market themselves or their product. It’s easy to do and everyone can do it but are they necessarily doing it right? Many people set up a number of pages, blogs or groups to advertise their product though to keep each one updated and on track may prove to be difficult and time consuming. To manage and monitor all of these methods of social marketing I thought it would be a good idea to set up a service online that will enable an individual to be able to manage, monitor and update all of their pages they have created across the web in a single window or application.
