Kara - Apps part 2

Apps part 2

After my initial blog post, I have gone home and done some more research on Apps and specificially some articles that will be useful to me.

One article I found on a mobile phone app development companies website praises Apps to the highest degree. Even saying that Apps should join the 4 Ps of marketing.

It also names Widgets as being a kind of App that can be used on third party sites and blogs. It is keen to ensure that the reader knows how effective Apps are as well as being low in production and placement costs.

Many articles I have read are very positive about Applications being a good, cheap form of marketing. By piggy backing off Social Networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, which already have their own Apps created, it works out better for the client.

Above is an article which gives a list of Twitter Apps that could be useful for a company. It separated the Apps into lists for different usages. For example “Twitter Apps for asking a question” or “Great Twitter Apps to build your following”. It also gives a little explanation of what kind of functions each Application has.

Lastly is an example, granted it’s an American company, of how companies can use Apps to help boost sales. Best Buy, an electronics company, have started using Apps on the web and mobile phone to help drive sales and traffic to their site.

There is an App which allows users to send a hint as to what Christmas present they would like from Best Buy to a potential gift givers e-mail. Soon to be developed is a Facebook Secret Santa and an App that enables users to send friends or relatives a set of their own pictures to run on a slideshow along with a group o best buy t-shirts that sing along to Christmas songs.
